[Backdated to December 20th, after this]

It seems like one old pain is active again.

Dr. Victor Von Doom approached me and Agent Mina Vandom earlier today. At first, he wasn't hostile, but despite the history he had with Agent Vandom, he actually wanted me for some reason. I had refused and even punched him after he came so close to convincing me.

After that, Aero V-Dramon and I had battled with his partner Black Aero V-Dramon. While it looked like a virtual mirror match, it turned out there was an experience difference between our partners, one that gave me some kind of advantage against Doom. Of course, for some reason, he never got involved in the fighting himself. Something that could have very well turned the tide of the fight.

Guys, I'm sorry. For some reason, I feel like I've betrayed you...again...

So uh... Although this is gonna probably get me murdered by either a walking death machine or a big chested bat chick but!

I kinda maybe sort of lost Shadow? Uh, and he ditched his D-Comm too.

Hello, there everyone! This is DaiPenmon, the Area Leader of Meria! I'm sure some of you have already found out by now, but we're going to be changing our celebration in Meria over the season. Attached is details, but rest assured, the goal here is to make up for the void left by Hououmon's passing, and to remember him by going towards the future... while simultaneously paying homage to the digital world's own holiday celebrations, and the celebrations of all our offworlders!

We hope to see you all there, and hope that you have a marvelous time! The festival will be held from today through the first day of New Year's!

... huh. Today I turned thirty-three.

I certainly don't feel it.

Huh, maybe it'll be uncelebrated like the others were. I wouldn't mind that [...]

[ Then it times out. ]

[There's relative silence, except for a faint beeping of hospital machinery. Eventually, there's a faint sigh.]

Seems like every time I come here... I say the same thing. I suppose I'm just trying to avoid thinking of... that possibility. Far be it from me to think I've got any sort of control over fate, but...

... Hoshi... it doesn't feel right. You might be missing Christmas... you hadn't even gotten a chance to meet Stormy yet... [chuckles softly] She'd love you, by the way...

[another pause, and another sigh]

I miss you. I don't think I'll ever stop wishing that you hasn't gone in to that fight alone...

[a rustle, and something is set on the table]

I got you a present. Hopefully you'll get to open it on Christmas. If not... well... it'll still be there when you do...

[the comm goes silent again, for several minutes, before clicking off.]

Merry Christmas kids!

It's Lorne here with some holiday cheer for my favorite borders, employees and assorted freeloaders!

We'll be having a Christmas Eve party in the bar this year, a peaceful little get together after it closes at six. Dinner will be provided, feel free to exchange gifts. We'll have some Christmas classics playing on the big screen too.

To prepare for this I propose two shopping days. On Monday all the guys should go out and do whatever last minute shopping we have to do. I'll even treat us all to Mongolian BBQ and bowling how's that sound?

Then on Tuesday it's the girls turn for the same. I'll entrust Sarasim with the cash for dinner and the group activity of your choice.

This is my gift to you all, you've helped make this hotel a home so I want it to be as full of Christmas spirit as it can be without being claymation.

[Christmas music, crowds chattering, ect ect.

And a very annoyed sigh.]

What is wrong, Daniel Jackson?

I hate shopping. These crowds are ridiculous.

Then why are we here?

I need gifts for Christmas. I already got something for Terra and Beast Boy... but I still need something for Jack. I swear... shopping for him is like... like learning an alien language. Backwards. When it's been dead for a hundred years.

I do not understand. A language is not a living thing. How can it be dead?

... nevermi-

[long pause from both]

... Ooh... That's perfect...

Haku, can you come give me a check up? I think I may be ready to get going.

[Interior: Maria's apartment, the kitchen; artificial lighting. Close up on Maria with Patamon on her shoulder.]

Since Mimi's idea for a meetup kept falling through.

[Quick smile!]

I'd like to invite everyone from our world, the one with Belial Vamdemon - what did Ryo call it, Adventure-verse or something - to dinner at my place for Noche Buena; that is, Christmas Eve. [She looks a little more pensive.] It's a tradition in my family, dinner on Christmas Eve. It should be at midnight, really, but, you know, I've got little siblings, so we always had it earlier. Let's make it six.

[Patamon taps her shoulder.] Hey, what about--

[The look of suddenly remembering something.] Oh, yes! Hikaru asked if he could invite the Brainbreakers and their families along as well... So the invitation's extended to you too. Six o'clock, the twenty-fourth.

[She sounds a bit more decisive now.] Chosen, Brainbreakers, please let me know if you're coming by Tuesday so I know how much food to make.

[Patamon smirks.] I'm just glad we're not carolling. Always could've done without that particular tradition.

[Maria looks at Patamon.] Shhh. I would have done it if I had any musical aptitude, but as things are...

[They laugh at some in joke, then Maria reaches forward to turn the camera off.]

[humming. Just humming.]

Master?

Hmm?

What's Master thinking?

... Nothing much. Just about last Christmas and how glad I am there's no talking mistletoe this year.

Oh, we remember them. We were actually thinking it's quiet without them.

Don't tempt fate, Draca, please. With the way luck runs here Yggdrasil will hear you and we'll have to put up with them again.

[snickers] Master didn't like them?

It's hard to like something that claims you're--

Why is my D-Comm on?!

Um ... it fell?

[facepalm] You could at least try to think up an excuse beforehand!

We'll do that next time then, Master!

... That ... came out wrong.

Okay, um...

I need a bat that won't break over a thick metal skull. So, a little help?
So.

Santa Claus.

Jolly fat man who delivers presents to all the good little boys and girls, or something more sinister?

I've been pondering this for awhile, and have come to a conclusion...

Santa is, in fact, an alien. No other creature on earth could live that long. OR TRAVEL THAT FAST. The presents and gifts are a facade, a ruse to lure us into a false sense of security, so that we turn away while his true intentions are put into motion.

Some may question whether or not he exists, but I am convinced he, in fact, travels the globe as a means of mapping it, and surveying things. Taking a look at various superpowers' defenses so that when the centuries of preparation is complete, they have an up-to-date assessment of our strengths and weaknesses when the invasion inevitably comes.

Sure, he might bring presents.

But at what cost? AT WHAT COST?!

...

Which, hey, nothing we have to worry about HERE, but I figured everyone deserves a fair warning. ^_^
Hey, David? It's me, Mina.

Listen, I've... kinda noticed you've been out of it recently. Mind talking about it?
